COLORS

This series is about colors, the emotions they communicate and influence, and the symbolic representations they convey. Each painting depicts a single color and its countless shades; employing a certain emphasis on gesture, brushstrokes or texture; uses lines, scribbles, stains or drippings of paint; also occasionally incorporates ancient Asian, African or European symbols associated with that color. While painting in monochrome heightens the emotional tone of the works; different shades of each color are aimed to take on new connotations of meanings.

Each painting is composed of several canvases with varying dimensions. Alternating the thicknesses of these canvases brings about a further movement to the surface of the paintings and underlines the idea of multiple-panel composition.

The series consists of 15 paintings.
